MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of this volunteer organization is to work together to support and promote the interests of Ballet Austin in greater Austin and the surrounding communities through educational programs, fundraising and special events.
AFTER RECEIVING OUR CHARTER in 1975, the Ballet Austin Guild has been involved in educational programs, fundraising, and many special events.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT activities of the Guild is the Docent Program, which is an extremely successful educational program aimed at introducing ballet to grade school children.
BALLET AUSTIN DOCENTS visit Austin and surrounding area schools to introduce ballet to the students who will be attending a Ballet Austin School Show. The presentations cover the history of ballet, the similarities of a dancer to other professional athletes, the life and training of a dancer, and the four parts of a ballet: dance, music, drama and decor. The children are told the story of the ballet and are introduced to the characters in order to prepare them for the performance by Ballet Austin.
THE GUILD IS ABLE TO PROVIDE financial support to Ballet Austin through fundraising projects such as the Women on Their Toes Spring Event, and the Gift BARRE Boutique.
IN ADDITION TO educational programs and financial support the Guild also assists the box office with season subscribers, seats students at special performances, and provides support for the dancers.
MEMBERSHIP IN THE GUILD is open to all persons interested in supporting and contributing to the growth and success of Ballet Austin. The Guild provides opportunities for a variety of time commitment levels. The rewards of joining such a dynamic and talented group is a pleasure you will want to experience for yourself.
